Painted from memory and place, this 9×12 inch oil on canvas captures the sun-drenched landscape of the Barossa Valley as seen from near Lyndoch, where I once lived. The valley unfolds in broad, confident strokes — golden paddocks rolling toward a fiery red hillside that dominates the upper canvas, its warmth softened by the cooler purples of distant ranges to the right. A small cluster of farm buildings sits quietly in the middle ground, half-hidden by trees, a reminder of the human scale within this grand rural panorama. The foreground hums with colour — yellows, greens, reds and earthy browns layered loosely to suggest scrub and wildflowers catching the light. This is the Barossa beyond the cellar doors and tourist trails — wide, warm, and deeply familiar.
